Band tradition you will miss most? “I’ll miss all the football games and competitions. Nothing beats the feeling of being on the field, looking into the stands, and about to perform”
3 things you can’t live without? “My animals, books, and my family/friends”.
Faculty shout-out. “I want to thank everyone who has taught me. I’ve had many amazing teacher over th years, and I’ll miss everyone when I graduate. I also want to thank the band parents for doing everything they an to make all of our band experiences better. They go above and beyond to help us and it couldn’t be anymore appreciated.”
Best advice to underclassmen? “It’s better to be over prepared than underprepared. always have fun and cherish your time in the band or any school event you do, because time does fly. Don’t worry about all the bad things that happen because you probably won’t remember them by the time you graduate.”
Plans after graduation? “I will attend West Virginia University for a Biochemistry degree”

Lakaya Deegan, color guard & flute
Favorite Memory? “During my sophomore year of marching band, my favorite memory is rom spending time in the dorms with my friends, laughing until we cried, and just having a great time. It’s something that I’ll always look back on and smile.”
Band tradition you will miss most? “I’ll miss hanging out with the color guard the most. Whether it was building ginger bread houses and coloring Easter eggs, or even doing weekly zooms, we always found a way to be together and I’ll miss that a lot.”
3 things you can’t live without? “Friends/family, my horse, and music”
Faculty shout-out. “I would just like to thank Mrs. S for everything she did for me as an instructor. She believed that I could become a part of the guard and trusted me to work hard to be at the same level as everyone else. Without color guard, my high school experience would have been much less interesting and I’m so thankful for all the staff members who made these past four years as amazing as they were.”
Best advice to underclassmen? “Try not to take your experiences for granted. I know it sounds luncheon, but one day you’ll wish you had realized how amazing all of those little moments really were. Just try to take a second whenever you can to appreciate your friends and experiences because it’ll all be over before you know it”
Plans after graduation? “I plan to attend The Ohio State University Newark campus for my freshman year of college. I intend to study in an Undecided/Exploratory major. My goal is to transfer to the Columbus campus to earn a four-year degree.”

Favorite Memory? “My favorite memory is waking up early on comp days. From the bus rides to getting food with friends, competitions were always a blast. Being able to perform on the field with the band is an experience I’ll never forget.”
Band tradition you will miss most? “A tradition that I will never forget would be going to parties with the color guard. The parties were filled with fun activities, food, and plenty of laughter that not only brought us closer as a guard but as a family”
3 things you can’t live without? “Dogs, crocs, and Hershey bars”
Faculty shout-out. “Mrs. S - Thank you for basically forcing me to try out for color guard. It ended being one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Thank you for putting so much of your time and effort into making guard awesome! I’ll muss you but I’m coming back to hangout ;)”
