Mr. Justin Schwertfeger, Director of Bands

Mr. Schwertfeger is a native of the Ohio Valley.  He earned a bachelor of arts degree in music from the University of Notre Dame and then went on to earn a masters of music education degree from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, IL.  Mr. Schwertfeger is in his 13th year directing the instrumental music program of the St. Clairsville-Richland City School District.  This includes all middle school and high school bands, along with the high school jazz band, marching band, pep band, and indoor programs.

Mr. Lakin Weaver, Woodwinds

Lakin Weaver is an educator, performer, and videographer from Follansbee, West Virginia.  He is the Media Arts instructor at St. Clairsville High School, a satellite program of the Belmont-Harrison Career Centers, teaching courses in video, audio, and musical engineering.  A graduate of West Virginia University, Lakin has worked with the STC instrumental music program for over 10 years and currently serves as woodwind coordinator and assistant director.

Mr. Rob McEwen, Percussion Coordinator

Rob McEwen is from Oakland, Maryland and earned a bachelor of music education from West Virginia University.  He currently teaches in Ohio County Schools as the band director for Bridge Street Middle School in Wheeling, WV.  At Bridge Street, he teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade bands, general music, as well as world music including steel band and African ensemble.  he has worked with the STC marching band and indoor percussion for the past several years.

Mrs. Becca Schwertfeger, Guard Coordinator

A native of St. Clairsville, Mrs. Schwertfeger is the color guard director for the St. Clairsville “Red Devil” Guard. During the day, she is a 6th and 8th grade English Language Arts teacher. Under her leadership the last 7 years, the color guard has grown into numerous groups. These groups include competitive marching band, 6th grade guard, 7th and 8th grade guard, Middle School competition guard, and the Red Devil Indoor Guard. All of these groups have won various awards within the past few years, including Best Auxiliary Class B, Best Auxiliary Overall, numerous solo and ensemble awards, 1st place finishes during indoor season, and grand champion. This past indoor season, the Red Devil Indoor Guard finished 5th in the state at OIPA State Championship.  During her free time, Mrs. S likes to spend time with friends and family, read, take naps, and cuddle with her cat, Miggins.
